Increase brand awareness for a Japanese mega-bank in the Americas (and beyond).

About Mizuho

Mizuho is a Japanese mega-bank with consumer presence in Japan, and a corporate and investment banking presence globally. When I joined, the marketing team in the Americas was only 4 years old, with less than 20 employees. The whole team across Mizuho Americas happily leaned into the startup aspects of working there. As the marketing team grew, we were tasked with leading the B2B brand globally.

Social media and content key results

I mainly focused on internal brand initiatives, helping to increase visibility for employee resource groups (ERG’s) and philanthropic efforts. I also helped facilitate content production, increasing video output to about 1-2 hero pieces per month, plus 6-8 social cuts for organic and paid (all shot and edited in-house with no dedicated video team).

For social media, doubling down on content employees could rally around and activating our influential employees (such as our equity research analysts and key executives) helped double our engagement rate, which in turn grew our overall reach and follower count.

An additional key result for social media in our B2B context was giving clients and client-facing employees content to talk about. While not easily measured, this was helpful for facilitating relationships and business deals.
